Want to own a one of a kind coat with a story? Well - here it is.
Year is 1985. Family member is at the Crombie Factory in Scotland - picking items for next trade show and retail (she was a buyer for SAKS at the time). Crombie made exclusive garments to many big department stores, white label brands, and Government issued clothing.
There was a production going on and she noticed cutouts with soviet Serp i Molot (hammer and sickle) insignia. She asked and was told that Crombie is making a big order of coats for USSR government. Long story short - they "sold" her one of these coats as a sample.
THIS IS THE COAT!!
It was never worn by a human, used few times for catalog photoshoots on a mannequin, then hung on displays, used as a conversation piece, and stored in cold storage for many years.
Label that was attached to a button reads in Russian:
"This Fabric is woven At Crombie Factory in Scotland, specifically for USSR"
